Next-gen Nothing Phone 2

Nothing, the tech startup co-founded by Carl Pei, is set to release its second-generation smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2. The company confirmed at MWC 2023 that the device will sport a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, but the exact model and specifications have not been revealed. However, rumors suggest it could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2.

This is a significant upgrade from the mid-range Snapdragon 778G+ chip found in the first-generation Nothing Phone 1, which was more affordable than most flagship phones. The use of a flagship chipset in the Nothing Phone 2 could suggest that the device will be more expensive than its predecessor.

The Nothing Phone 1 was unveiled in mid-2022, but it has not yet been released in the US market. Nothing has confirmed that the second-generation phone will make its way to the US later in the year, but the release date is unknown. However, based on the release of the first phone, July is the most likely month for the full reveal of the Nothing Phone 2.

In an interview with Inverse earlier this year, Carl Pei stated that the company could not release its smartphones in the US earlier because it was still building its team and products.

When creating a smartphone for the US market, working with carriers on certification and adapting features into the OS is necessary. The lack of resources prevented the company from doing so earlier, but it now has the capability to release a smartphone in the US market.

The Nothing Phone 2 is expected to feature a larger battery than the first-generation phone, with a 5,000mAh cell onboard. It is also rumored to have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, making it a high-performance device.

The leak suggests that the phone will have a 120Hz AMOLED display, similar to the first phone from the company.

The use of a flagship chipset in the Nothing Phone 2 could help the brand compete with other high-end smartphones in the market. The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 is expected to provide top-notch performance and power efficiency, which could make the device a popular choice among consumers.

In addition to the rumored specifications, it is likely that the Nothing Phone 2 will feature the unique design language that the company is known for.

The first-generation phone had a distinctive transparent design, which allowed users to see the internal components of the phone. The Nothing Phone 2 could follow a similar design philosophy, which would set it apart from other smartphones in the market.

The price of the Nothing Phone 2 is currently unknown, but it is expected to be more expensive than the first-generation device. The use of a flagship chipset and the rumored high-end specifications suggest that the device will be a premium offering from the company.

Finally, the Nothing Phone 2 is set to be an exciting release from the tech startup. The use of a flagship chipset and high-end specifications could make it a competitive device in the high-end smartphone market.

The unique design language that the company is known for could also make it a popular choice among consumers. The release date and price of the device are still unknown, but it is expected to be revealed in full later this year.
